Are any of you guys looking for a travel partner? My parents are stressed out about me flying alone. I’m from the San Francisco Bay area.

bbcarol and musicrox, thanks for all of your help!
I still haven’t been placed yet in SSTP, but I’ve decided to go to YSP instead. Both SSTP and YSP are great programs so it was pretty hard to choose, but I finally chose YSP, so I hope this opens up a spot to someone waitlisted for SSTP.

I’m sure we’ll all have a fantastic summer! Best of luck to everyone in all future endeavors! Perhaps we shall meet some other day! :)

kairoux: lol same here, I’m also from the bay area, so sure, although I haven’t paid yet waiting for some last minute programs.

For those who already enrolled at Iowa, what answers do you fill out the fields with? Like “List the courses you are enrolling in” or “What college are you applying to (art, science, etc.)?” I’m so very confused and Ms. Warren hasn’t replied to any of my emails over the past week and the deadline’s coming up >_< help would be great!

@shinexalive
We chose “college of letter and science” for the college and major I think we put “SSTP”. They will then ask who is the person you connecting to, just put down Ms. Jan Warren.
They know they will be expecting kids from SSTP applying as “undecided” major, so even if you get it wrong, as long as you put down somewhere on the app that this is for the 3 units for SSTP, they will know what this is about.
There should be a place in the end where you need put down a course description, and this is what we put down (just copy this and paste into the box)
418:001 Secondary Student Training Program 0, 3 s.h.
Experience conducting research under the guidance of a faculty member; presentation of research findings at concluding seminar. Six weeks.
Hope that helps ! BTW, we applied to UI 2 weeks ago, still haven’t heard from them, only got a automatic email response when we click submit, did anyone heard from UI yet ?
We will call UI tomorrow and see when we will get the HAWKS ID, etc…

Talked to a lady at UI admissions today, students that applied to UI already will be accepted tomorrow and we should be hearing from Ms. Warren soon. She said our app is fine, so if you follow my instructions posted earlier, it should be fine.
Still waiting on lab placement…

I’ve paid the fees via wire transfer. I did not specify all the details that you mentioned bbcarol but I did specify SSTP somewhere or the other. Hope that will be okay. However, no one has contacted me about the visa procedure yet.

Hmm looks like everyone has their lab placements, I’m getting kinda worried too. Do the lab placements happen in order of who had the best looking app? mine was actually a bit shaky considering I don’t have a 4.0…

This is kinda late, but regarding tennis, I play also! Top of jv at my school/bottom of varsity. So I suppose I’m decent haha :)

bbcarol, I just specified SSTP, hope that’s okay :/

lilyy96, I think it’s probably based on demand - more popular labs probably take longer to sort out. (Because my app was defintely less than phenomenal.)

@Ishbir - you may want to call the office to ask for the visa process
@shinexalive - we actually only mentioned “SSTP” without providing the contact person info etc.

@lily96
No lab placement for my D either, what was your choices? My D picked surgery, anatomy and Internal Meds. I am sure surgery will be difficult to place, that’s why it took longer.
Got an email today about potential lab placement in the next week weeks, so we called them and they said no worries, everyone will have a lab placement, but need to make sure you apply to UI before deadline and send your transcript to UI, u definitely don’t want to delay that process.
@India Interns : I think you should call the office to make sure they are on top of it, might take a little longer to get VISA.

I got the same email as bbcarol about getting the lab placements in a few weeks. Anyone know what we do once we get a hawk id?

I submitted my app to UIowa days ago but got no reply. When/how do you get a HawkID and how do you pay for the courses?

@shinexalive I was emailed my hawk id/password about a week after I applied to UIowa so I think you should be getting that soon. I haven’t figured out how to pay yet though.

We applied Week(s) ago, they said they got my app (automatic response) but still no HAWK ID yet, I called UI and they said they will process the apps last week, and they said my D’s complete, not sure… I will call again next week if I don’t get anything from them.
Anyone else got HAWK ID ??

I still have not recieved my hawk id either, even though I applied around two to three weeks ago.

Got it via e-mail

Aahh~ Ms. Warren isn’t replying to emails either. If we don’t have IDs by tomorrow, the apps won’t be counted as late right?

She actually returned my voice mail back. she said as long as you accepted the program and filled all the necessary forms on-line, you’re fine.
