catmario, musicrox1815 and echinoderm: Please tell us more about yourself. Location/Age/Gender/Honours/Awards/Achievements/Other Programs etc.

musicrox: yay! bring your racquet and let’s hit! ^-^

echinoderm: o__O wow you’re good! I really doubt that I’m on your level lol, I’m just varsity at a relatively weak school. But if you’re sure you don’t mind my incompetency haha~ we should all play! ^_^

Lol, I’m on varsity for a mid-level school. We’ll do fine; it’ll be fun. :P

Do you guys know how HSHSP (or is it HSSRP?) is compared to Iowa SSTP?

I got accepted into SSTP, but I wanted to ask if anyone already got their lab placements.

Also, did anybody try to make payment? I tried but I got an error. I also want to know when I have to pay the SSTP fee.

BTW I am a junior from Virginia

Placements come out today right?
Haven’t paid yet, but I don’t think many others have, either. I guess we’re all waiting for responses from other programs or our lab placements.

-male
-sophomore
-Bay Area
-unweighted:3.975
- did ATDP for 2 years, waiting for COSMOS application to come back as well as lab placement
-I think i chose computer science
-I play badminton lol, so I may not be the best for tennis.

I haven’t paid yet either. I think payment/acceptance is due by May 1.

It’s still April 5 in California, but I’m also very excited to see what lab I’m placed into! Do you guys prefer working individually or in pairs? I’m pretty sure a lot of people will be paired, especially since they accepted even more people this year.

I usually like to work alone, but I guess that’s because where I go to school, there’s not that many people on my level o__O not to sound condescending tho.
Maybe working in pairs would be a nice change this time :D

jw, is anyone here going to Intel ISEF this year?

YES! today.

I just got an email from Ms. Warren, saying that I haven’t been placed into a lab yet… I put Internal Medicine as my first choice, which I’m sure is a pretty popular choice; maybe that’s why…?

Has anyone been placed yet?

@archaic, got in internal medicine (Emergency Medicine). good luck on your lab placement.

Oh! Congrats wishhimwell!

iamkoho, what lab did you get placed in?

I didn’t receive an e-mail at all… does this mean that I haven’t been placed? I haven’t paid yet so was that a possible reason?

Got my placement! Pediatrics, 1st/2nd choice (can’t remember).
Hope everyone gets at least a lab they’re satisfied with for the summer ^-^

Got my lab placement also! Biomedical Engineering, 1st choice! Anyone else with the same placement???

haven’t paid yet

Got an email from Ms. Warren, no lab placement yet, I guess because 1st choice is surgery, maybe that’s why… Maybe I should widen my choices a little.
I’m from Bay Area too…
Congrads to all those who got lab placement today
@wishhimwell : Emergency sounds like a great opportunity, my D would be happy in ER.
But I wonder what kind of research they do in emergency Meds or do they let you shadow at ER ??

^Probably research about emergency meds.

@theking101: What’s your lab choices ?? Mine is surgery/anatomy, maybe it’s kinda hard to place someone in surgery, I don’t have a lab placement yet…

I guess trace back to some mean kids coming on this board from the COSMOS thread, this board had been nice until now, if you didn’t get accepted in SSTP, please get off this discussion board unless you have something nice to talk about, from what I see there are arguments going on in COSMOs board.
This thread is here to help kids and their parents understand what UI SSTP is, sharing experiences, not doing psychological evaluation on threads. Sounded like you can be a good diagnostic doctor, use it wisely. Fights are not appreciated here, thank u.
