Iowa State University!

help me out here please

For an engineering student, how well is this school respected compared to:

Michigan State
Wisconsin

Also, what is the campus like? What is the city of Ames like?

I'm an ISU student! My brother is in engineering, I'm in business. The engineering program is VERY highly regarded, especially in the midwest. Not sure how it compares to MSU and UW-M though since I know next to nothing about those schools.

Campus:
Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. It's sort of a mismatch of buildings but somehow they all kinda mesh together. The central green space is amazing for getting together for a group meeting or bbq or just laying in the grass to study. The campus was designed/planned by the guy who planned Central Park, if that gives you an idea of what campus is like. Minus crime, ball fields in the middle, and high rise hotels on the side.

The city of Ames runs a great bus system and every route except one runs through campus during 5 to 10 minute intervals during the school day. It's a decent sized town. The school thrives off the city, the city thrives off the school. It's a great relationship. Everybody is very down to earth, there are city people, country people, suburb people, not just a bunch of hicks in the sticks.

The sports are fun to watch even if we're not that great at most. Hilton Coliseum is one of the premier places to watch a men's basketball game from the student section, and Jack Trice Stadium is phenomenal (although small for D-1) to watch football. Wrestling, men's basketball, and football are huge, but if you're not into sports, that's cool.

The Greek scene is pretty big, but not overwhelming. The Greek houses are all directly south of campus, near an area called "Campus Town" where most of the bars, restaurants, and off-campus student apartments are located.

The city and campus are VERY safe and everyone is extremely helpful, especially for new students.

I LOVE being a Cyclone! I chose ISU for financial reasons, but in retrospect I wouldn't want to spend four years anywhere else!

Cards4life is there aid for Internationals covering full cost at ISU?

I don't know anything about International Aid...I'm an in-state student.
