Iowa Young Writers Studio 2016

@ziying I will be attending UVA this summer.
I am alumna of the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio guys and I can guarantee that the Studio will be PERFECT. and this is an understatement. It’s THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD TO BE!

@drakonus Well different programs look for your strength in distinctive fields so there is no need to worry. What else did you apply for?

Accepted to Iowa! Does anyone here who’s attending session 2 want to make a Facebook group?

Is anyone else here attending session 1?

@fitzgirl22 I’m doing Session I :slight_smile:

@Alexandradra TASP (which I also didn’t make), YGYS, COSMOS, LEAD, and this. Some other programming camps too.

Pretty bummed about Iowa and TASP as I wanted something humanities oriented… :frowning:

@drakonus Sorry about that:( But I think you’ll have great chance for YYGS and COSMOS.

@Alexandradra Thanks :slight_smile:

@AlmightySadist Any news?

Hey, to all accepted people, have you received your teacher and roommate assignments? What classes are you in? I have Alex Madison for fiction.

@fitzgirl22 Hey, I’ve only just received my instructor and roommate assignments; guess everyone is receiving it sporadically. I’m going to be attending Session 2; what about u? By the way, does your username have any allusion whatsoever to Scott Fitzgerald?

@aroving I’m attending session 1. And yes, Fitzgerald is my favorite writer!

Hey guys, I am an alumna of IYWS (session 1). If anyone has any questions, feel free to message me. :slight_smile: Congratulations to all of you!

@fitzgirl22 Fitzgerald is one of my favourite writers too - he was actually my unparalleled favourite writer from age of 13-15. What is your favourite work by him? Mine is actually Paradise - never has been anything different. Tender came close.

@aroving I like Tender is the Night too, but at the risk of sounding cliché, I’d have to say Gatsby. The Love of the Last Tycoon also (even though it’s unfinished) because it reminds me so much of Gatsby.

@fitzgirl22 I have read Gatsby three times but still feel like there is a lot to be gleaned. Each re-read prompts another…

Sorry if this sounds so awkward, but I like writing/have imitated Fitzgerald’s prose style in a short story I wrote. Would you mind if I solicited you for a read? Any form of feedback is definitely not needed. I would be so happy to read your work too, if any, and provide feedback.

Thank you!
