Am I the only one that was following WWDC updates today and am thoroughly excited for the new iPhone? (Yes, I'll admit that I'm a bit of an Apple fangirl, but with good reason--none of their products have ever failed me.)

I was following, but unfortunately as a Apple fanboy, I will not be able to get the new iPhone
I got the iPhone on the first day it first came out in June 2007. My contract expired right when the 3GS came out in June 2009, so I ended up getting that. But oh well, I’ll still be able to get the complete iOS 4
I’m most excited about the video conferencing. And I’m wondering how good the HD video is compared to the handheld camcorders like the Flip.

I’m not on AT&T so I can’t get the iPhone…at least not until my Verizon contract comes up, in 2yrs. (Just upgraded to MotoDroid though?)
However, I will say I’m an Apple fan. Really looking forward to seeing if the rumors of a new Mac OS. And the new iPhone 4 looks so awesome.

Steve announced that AT&T will allow you to upgrade up to 6 months earlier than usual, so if you got it last June, you should be able to rather soon

And I’m most excited for the video conferencing too, and multitasking. I don’t know how I feel about iAd, though.

It might come to Verizon or at least not stick to AT&T exclusively…The new data plans for AT&T might be part of the reason. But IDK if Verizon will want it now, they’ve got their hands full with the new Android phones.

i am too poor to afford it because my parents said i already have a iphone. they don’t get the difference between 3GS and a 4G. i am assuming price value will be nearly the same as the other iphones’ at their release date.

Not really. I hate the iPhone I have now and never really wanted one to begin with. The only reason I have one is because my parents bought it and are footing the bill.

I thought the six month thing was for people who’s contract expired this year? Mine expires next year, in July 2011, so idk.

I kind of want a different phone though. I’ve had the same since the summer before sophomore year and I’m going into college as a freshman next semester. I think the iPhone is one of those things that once you have it, you can’t go back, yaknow?

I’m so glad I waited to get an iPhone. I was going to get an iPod Touch 2 years ago (was under verizon contract then), and when I got out from my 2 year contract I was going to get the 3GS, but both times I decided to wait. Now I have enough money to buy the 32GB iPhone 4 and accessories.

I am really excited about this, it looks pretty awesome (not a fan of the 3G/S look, but really like the iphone4).

Does anyone have any news on Safari 5? Engadget posted something but I haven’t found anything else.

Bahaha, no, not quite that bad it could at least flip out, but it was pretty bad. It was durable though, I dropped it on the ground plenty of times and it didn’t break … unfortunately.

I thought it was underwhelming. Great if you are in the market for a new phone but it’s definitely not contract-breaking-worthy like the 3G or 3GS were.

I’m just gonna wait until November when I can upgrade and I’ll probably get the EVO 4G. It’s basically the iPhone 4 but with a different operating system, better cameras, a bigger screen, HDMI out and better service (at least where I live).

Honestly the fact that it’s still on AT&T is a swift hammer to the nuts for me. I’d rather contract ebola than use AT&T again. Case in point: I went from an iPhone 3GS to a Blackberry Tour 9630 because AT&T’s service was so god damn awful.

@DCHurricane - You summed it up. AT&T has **** for service. That and them decided to get rid of unlimited data and Apple only allowing video calls to work over wifi (versus wifi, 3g, or 4g with the Evo and eventual 4g LTE phones on verizon) made me pass on the idea of the new iphone. Don’t get me wrong, I love the case design and display but the rest of it kills it for me.

I love technology so yeah, i read all about it.

It sounds really awesome with its IPS screen, epic pixel density, and new design.

However, i think the EVO 4G on sprint is still the winner here in terms of pure hardware.

Iphone OS 4 seems like a real winner and i would love to have it but at the same time i think Android is doing really really well and i think i prefer it. I have a droid currently and i’m running Android 2.1 and its been great. At the same time i have an ipod touch running the latest firmware but it wasn’t really that interesting until i jailbroke it.

Yeah, Kulakai. I’m also a big fan of the app selection on the iPhone… but again, AT&T’s service is just far too horrifying of an experience for me to ever get an iPhone again as long as I’d be stuck on it.

Hopefully by the time Apple drops AT&T’s exclusivity, the apps available on Android will match the quality of those on the iPhone (mainly referring to the Yelp app which has more features on the iPhone than on Android).

At my old apartment, I had zero service at all. I had to go outside to make a call.
Mind you, I’m living in the middle of New York City. How I have no service, I don’t know.

It’s pretty typical for my phone not to get reception here.

I’m lucky that my house gets great AT&T reception, and school pretty well, except for some underground parts of buildings. Passable enough for me to not get annoyed with.

I have the new Blackberry Curve right now and I’ve just decided that I’m really fundamentally not a Blackberry person. I like it and it works well, it’s reliable, whatever, but I need to be constantly entertained, and their app selection is dreadfully small. I don’t think it helps that I switched from an iPhone 3G to the BB; the iPhone really is one of those phones that it’s hard to go back from.

To the Droid users: What makes it so great? (Not sardonic, I’m honestly curious as to why you prefer it. I’ve never really played with one enough to know what makes it comparable/superior to the iPhone, besides offering tethering earlier.)
