iPhone and Cornell email

<p>My daughter got her iPhone recently. She has been able to receive, but not to send email using her Cornell email address. Anyone has it working? If so, what is the outgoing mail server?</p>

<p>For iPhone and other multi-platform setups, you probably want to use MobileMe by Apple (which costs money) or use Gmail as a storage point (free). I don'tt know about MobileMe, but the Gmail solution uses IMAP which syncs deletions, tags, and folder moving across all platforms.</p>

<p>I have all my Cornell mail forwarded to my Gmail. From there, I can access Gmail from desktop client (Thunderbird in my case), iPhone, or web.</p>

<p>She is not having any problem receiving Cornell emails, therefore she doesn't need to forward emails to her other email acct (Yahoo). She would like to be able to send email from her Cornell email acct from iPhone to keep all her emails on one server. The disadvantage of of using Yahoo to reply back is then rest of email thread would be on Yahoo, not Cornell.</p>

<p>outgoing is authusersmtp.mail.cornell.edu on server 587 with ssl and username/password</p>

<p>Gmail now allows you to send email from whatever email address you wish.</p>

<p>Also, cornell's outgoing mail server does not work except on the Cornell network. That's why you have to use Gmail or some other outgoing server unless you're using their wireless.</p>

<p>I can use my Cornell outgoing server on my Apple Mail client anywhere...haven't have a problem.</p>

<p>Tried it, and it didn't work. She is going to wait to go back to school to see if someone in technology could help her out. mokey89 could be right.</p>

<p>I got the iphone to send/receive cornell mail but the problem is when I send mail there is no record of it in the "sent" folder on the iphone or in the "sent" folder at webmail.cornell.edu. Any ideas?</p>
