I'm an entering freshman, so I have no idea the answer to this question.

Do you have to keep logging on to the Airbears Wifi with your Calnet User+ Password when you put your iPhone to sleep or when you move around campus?

I'm asking coz I'm looking for phone plans when I go over, and thinking I can save on data by using Airbears but don't want to have to keep logging on all the time.

I have found airbears to be really inconvenient with the iphone. I have to manually type in my username/password every time I come out of sleep or move somewhere new.

There is no “AirBears” in the dorms. AirBears is only on campus. ResComp runs their own wireless regime in the dorms. If you use that wireless, that usage counts towards your bandwidth limit.

IIRC, it’s been about a week since I’ve been on campus, but you do have to click signin but you don’t have to enter your pass and username. Only maybe once every few days you gotta enter your pass and username

I think you have to retype your name and password once a week, but you still have you click the logon button every time you connect. I hate it.

I heard that for Android there was an application that would connect automatically, but I don’t know what it’s called. Do any Android users know?

There is an iPhone app to autoconnect, but I don’t know how well it works.

I don’t think it would be too hard for IST to whitelist MAC addresses for 14 days or something, after someone has successfully logged in with their CalNet ID. Hopefully they’ll do something like that.

My iPhone 3G would ask for a login often, but not every time; was annoying.

My new iPhone 4s asks for a logon every single time. Even if the phone had been asleep for less than a minute. Super annoying. Since I have unlimited data, I just never use airbears on my phone.

This is the app. I have never used it, so I am not sure if it is worth the 99cents.
