Ipod Help!

I can't turn off my ipod! (nano)
I checked the hold switch and I cant even restart the thing..

Restarting - you press the centre button for 6 sec+ right? Is that when it's turned off or on? Because it's not even restarting.

Everything else works - like playing music, time, everything..

But when I connect it to my computer, it doesnt connect. My sister said it's because the ipod is turned on.. and that the computer doesn't recognise it if it's turned on or something.

So I cant tranfer songs..
Please help!

I have an iRiver, so I'm not sure if it works the same
but can you remove the battery pack, or whatever it uses?

Umm I dont think so..? Because the battery is charged by the USB cable thing and so I think it's an internal thing..

Oh and plus my battery is fully charged.

And my computer does not recognise the 'hardware' - you know that icon that pops at the bottom right hand blue bar on windows xp, and if you have something connected through USB, you click on it and press - "saftely remove hardware"
Yeah my ipod is connected to the compute rnow but it doesnt even have that icon thing.

Ok never mind I think I got it fixed but not really.

I connected it to another computer and it's charging there.. but it still doesn't turn off..

weird thanks anyway jesmindr

You can only turn off iPod shuffles.

On all other iPods, hold pause until the screen shuts off and then put it on hold.

Just let the battery run out and then recharge it.

Thanks guys.
I'm not sure if it's fully fixed but yeah now I can turn it 'off'

But I was wondering... the battery life for mine seems to be like.. less than the 14 or 16.. More like 9..? I've only had it for 2 weeks.
When I ffirst plugged it into the laptop, my laptop shut down by itself, like 5min after I plugged it in my laptop. My sis said that my battery is all screwed now because of that incident.. Is there a way to make the battery life longer?

Oh and one more q: When I want to recharge my ipod, is it supposed to be fully dead before I plug it in? Cos my sis said that that preserves the batterylife or something.

NO!!! Do NOT run the battery all the way down every time! Just do it one every few weeks. I've never run my mini all the way down to the point where it shuts itself down, but I used to run it down until there was just a sliver showing on the gage. I recently, per Apple's reccommendation, started charging it when the gage got to a little less than half, and my battery life has gotten better. I use my shuffle down to where the battery light turns yellow (but it's only on it's second charge).

Hope this helps!

Throw the piece of crap away and get an Ipod Video NOW!

Thanks HEAPS hellokiki... gotta tell that to my sis now haha

lil killer, only if I had the money...lol

O M G

My Ipod is ****ing me off so much right now

Ok so MY LAPTOP DOES NOT RECOGNISE THAT THE IPOD IS CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER

It does not even know it's connected!! In 'My Computer' where it's supposed to say, in the 'removable harddrive thing': "Jane's Ipod". It USED to say taht, and now it says DVD-RW Drive. Which is friggin stupid because it's only supposed to say that when NOTHING is connected to the laptop!!

But my IPOD is CONNECTED to the laptop!

Therefore, iTUnes does not know that my iPOD is connected and thus I cannot tranfer songs onto my ipod!!

I have Uninstalled the whole thing like 500 times. Installed it 500 times. And it still doesnt recognise that something is connected to the laptop.
I cannot even charge my ipod! I have to take it to my other computer and charge it there. But I really really reallllllllly want my ipod to connect to my laptop!

Also, I read the online manual thing and it says that Ipod's cannot be charged from laptop keyboards because it's weak or something? But it had been charging all through last week and this week :(!

I really don't get what I'm doing wrong here. Please help me!
