Do you guys think that the ipod shuffle will be a hit? I'm not sure for the average person 240 songs capacity for $149 sounds like a deal, but is it? It is so little it could be easily stolen or broken. So is the ipod shuffle really a deal or is it a ripoff with nice packaging?

The nice price will get alot of peoples attention who have, for some reason, not jumped on the IPOD bandwagon previously... The size is good too- I have two MP3 players because I wanted a really tiny one for the gym but wanted more memory then a small one could offer for other times.

the price dropped to $99 now

there's a 512 MB ipod shuffle for $99 and a 1 gig ipod shuffle for $149. I think the OP is referring to the 2nd one.

i think people trust apple as a brand name for mp3 players now, not to mention the fact that the ipod shuffle is cheaper than most comparable mp3 players, so i think it'll sell well, at least initially. (holy run on sentence, batman)

I would lose it, but....

Get an iRiver, a much better deal. You get a radio, radio recording, and voice recording.

What I don't like is the lack of an interface that forces you to listen to everything in shuffle, or random play mode. At least that's what I understood from watching Jobs describe the thing. The Shuffle was too small to put Apple's normal interface on, so they skipped it.

I want to control the order of the music I listen to and don't mind creating a playlist on my PC.

ishuffle is ridiculous...they're so tacky. along with those garish mini Ipods. yuck.

The IPOD shuffle is not a good buy at all. The lack of interface completely kills it. My bro has another MP3 player that goes for $120 that has an interface, a radio, and 512MB.

these things are for hippies

well you guys probably didnt pay enough attentions on iPod Shuffle; you can control your list.

basically create a list on itunes, and put them on shuffle(you can turn off the random mode), it will play as you listed on itunes. of course a lack of lcd prevent you from creating a list on iPod.

however i love the idea behind this little cute "thingy"; get loose.

p.s : iRiver has some great stuffs. i'd say iRiver and iPod are the top two mp3 players in the market.
