Hi. Does anyone know anything about the IR program at Lehigh? I know they have their own IR Dept. but, I'm not sure what that means? We've visited Lehigh, Dickinson and U of DE. He really liked Lehigh and UD is second on his list, so far. He didn't get a good vibe from Dickinson for whatever reason He's not ruling Dickinson out, but really liked Lehigh. He's also considering American and we're hoping to get him down there next month. It won't be an official visit, but at least he'll get somewhat of a feel for the campus and whether or not he'd like to go to the preview day in August. He's not sure he'd like the city feel of American.
Thank you!

Hi ptraz,

The IR program is the hardest major at Lehigh. It has the best professors, and the most demanding schedule. If you want a challenge and to be prepared to step in to any high powered government, political, or business job, then it’s the major for you. When the towers fell on September 11th, Lehigh IR professors were whisked off by jet to Washington to advise the President. In many schools, IR is just a subdivision of political science. Here, it is a major in its own right. Lehigh, as a forward thinking institution, is heavily invested in the international world. This investment shows.

Thank you Sparklyleo! My son does want the IR major, not political science. We just don’t see Lehigh mentioned a lot when researching IR major, so I was just wondering about it!
Thanks again!
