IR & Econ & (Preferably) West Coast. Where?

My son is starting to think about colleges. Thinks he wants to do International Relations and Econ. He's a remarkably selfless person and not particularly money oriented, more interested in helping people (must have got all of this from his mom :)).

Anyway, I'd like some inputs on studieing the combination and some good schools (preferably on the west coast) from which to do so.

thanks in advance.

Occidental has an excellent program called “Diplomacy and World Affairs” [Occidental College :: Diplomacy and World Affairs](http://www.oxy.edu/x5893.xml)

claremont mckenna college

Ive heard UCSD is pretty good also consalisa rice (i think thats how you spell her name) but she went to the university of colorado.

You might want to post on the Parents forum. You will get some very good input from parents whose children are studying those areas.
Are you instate for California? I would not look at the UCs if you are not instate. What are your son’s basic statistics? What about financial aid? Will you be looking for any FA?
