I would like to go to SIPA for an MIA. I have 3.8 in pol sci and history from a well regarded school. Have work experience in law and public policy. Have been published by the Harvard business review and others. Currently i am working for a SIPA professor. However my GRE scores are very low 520 quantitative 430 verbal. I have taken the exam twice and basically received the same score both times. I am a notoriously bad standardized test taker. I think i have solid creds excluding the GRE. How important is the GRE for SIPA admission? Do you think i have a shot even with my low GRE scores? Honest answers would be very helpful. Thanks!

Everybody has a shot. Every applicant has their strengths, and yours is obviously not sitting in front of a computer for an afternoon selecting the corresponding analogy to "covetous : rapacious."

I don't know what you need for your specific degree, but the other facets of your application are strong. There's no harm in applying and seeing what happens.

I think you have a good shot despite your test scores. Be sure to get a recommendation from that professor for your application. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses. I needed a little reassurance after two very disappointing GRE results.
