any thoughts on it?

I think is a very good article written by someone who actually has the authority/experience/credibility to say what he has said.

The real sad part is that most people will never be able to see this side of the story.

*But you know, to keep things in perspective, the situation in Iraq is truly more complex than the one-dimensional image the main stream media protrays. It has been full of great successes and mistakes, so the important thing is that we stay there until a legitimate free government can take hold and provide the necessary security for its people.

Great article. And the fact that its from a member of the military lends it much credibility. Like Ameechee said, it is sad that this will never be in headlines.

I liked the article. One thing though that I didn't like was his ranting about the celebrities who vocally oppose the war. That was simply pointless. I don't think that anybody actually listens to celebrities when it comes to their own views on anything, or at least I wouldn't want to meet someone who idolized them and their views

Yeah, i understand what you mean about no one listening to the celebrities, but i think his point is that the media doesn't interview people in the know, but will waste airtime to interview an ignorant celebrity on their views on a war that they have no authority on. It is sort of obnoxious that since a person is a good actor their views are somehow important enough to make the news, regardless of whether or not their opinions have any effect.

Writing in Beirut's Al-Anwar newspaper, political analyst Rafik Khoury said Arab governments who have criticized shortcomings of Iraq's elections, demanding that they be "honest and transparent ... themselves ban such elections for their own peoples."

something else very interesting- estimates put turnout at approximately 65-70% across Iraq, with up to 90% in some areas. with numbers like that, anyone who doesnt consider these elections a success needs to take a good hard look at reality.

I'm SOOOOOOO RELIEVED! i was biting my nails scared to death that some major catastrophe was going to happen yesterday.

Yes, I was suprised both at the magnitude of the voter turnout and also the fact that no major catastrophe's occurred. Perhaps resistance is weakening...one can only hope.
