Irregularity Report Question

Out of my curiosity,

I've just taken the OCT SAT and the PSAT within this month at my school
in Pennsylvania. I've seen many kids go to the bathroom and discuss answers and stuff.
But their test was never confiscated, and the proctor didn't say anything to them either
It seemed as if nothing happened ...

I thought the proctor had to file an irregularity report if anything as such ever
occurred.

Do they file the report after the test is over and the students are dismissed?
Like, do they file it without the students notification?
Or do they have to pull the student aside AFTER the test and inform he/she that they
will have to file an irregularity report?

Bump 10char??

If the proctor doesn’t know about it, how would they know to file an irregularity report?

Does the proctor follow the kids to the bathroom and eavesdrop on their conversations? If not, how is the proctor supposed to know?

Wow, back in the dark ages when we took the SAT, I don’t recall anyone getting bathroom breaks while the test was occurring, only between sections. I’m surprised that people would be allowed to go the bathroom DURING the test as it would be disruptive and hard to know what occurs during the bathroom break, as you’ve already mentioned. I would also think it would be bad for the test takers, since they would have less time to complete their work if they take off time to go the bathroom.

I know that when my kids took the SAT & I was waiting for them, they never asked to use the bathroom while they were working on any section of the test. Don’t even believe they took a break between sections of the test.

OP, I believe these kinds of “go to the bathroom and discuss answers and stuff” things happened more frequently than we can imagine.

My son’s HS has a kid openly bragging about how to use bathroom break to cheat on SAT test. That kid got a 2400 just that one sitting, and was not caught at all.

In the mean time, the majority of honest students like you and my son, have to study hard for few times, trying to achieve a better score. I think you should not let this incident get you. It’s so unfair. I know. But you can’t fix it now, just let it go.

I took the PSAT with all the sophomores in the district who were willing to take it on Saturday. Bathroom breaks weren’t allowed during sections. I think they cancel your score if you do.

This doesnt prevent asnwers from being discussed AFTER the section is over. It happens all the time. Pretty much everyone does it.

My proctor allowed us one 10min bathroom break. and one 3-5min in class break.

So basically if the proctor does not notify you at the spot or take your test away immediately, nothing suspicious will be filed against you?

CLARIFY, I MEAN GOING TO BATHROOM in BETWEEN sections
