IRS Verification Letter of Nonfiling HELP ME PLEASE!

Hi guys, appreciate your time. A while ago in January Penn State said they they need a verification letter of nonfiling from the IRS from me. I have never done taxes nor have I ever been employed. I mailed and faxed the IRS requesting the letter and I still haven’t gotten it back yet. The letter was received by them on January 25th according to the tracking number. I’ve tried contacting them but you can’t phone “RAIVS” team. If any of you have needed to send the letter, how long did it take for the IRS to mail you your letter?

Thanks guys appreciate it!

My D sent hers on 1/17 and received it this past Tuesday 2/7.

We also received a notification that one of my son’s school he was accepted to needed a letter of non filing from the IRS. Is the correct form you sent to the IRS 4506-T?

@collegeconfidential Yes that is the form that I sent

Okay thank you that helps!

@lvvcsf

The IRS says 10 business days, but sometimes it takes a little longer. There was MLK holiday. This is the busy time at the IRS. There is a hiring freeze on all federal jobs.

You can go to an IRS office and get the document while you wait.

When Penn State notified you about needing the verification of nonfiling letter, did they email you?

Did you try to reply to the email to ask if they received the form?

Did you look in your student portal to see if your financial aid award letter is there?

@mommdc
Yes they did email me.

The email they sent it from is a no reply, but I was able to contact them and they said to just send the letter to them when I get it.

In the portal it says that verification is required before I receive my letter.

Well, hopefully they will update that they received it.

Oh, you tracked the arrival of your letter to the IRS, I thought you had one sent to PSU as well.

It has been about 12 business days since 1/25. Hopefully the IRS will process your form soon.
