I haven't heard anything about a nursing school, but I've definitely heard of plans for a law school at UCI. I've heard stuff from fellow law school-bound students (a few of them are currently attending UCI), but here are some information that is more reliable:

Academic Senate Newsletter: History of the Consideration of a Law School for UC Irvine, 1967 to 2005

Also, I think UCI definitely should open up a nursing school. UCI has one of the most well-known hospitals not only in Orange County and Southern California, but in the country. UCI Medical Center has also been named as one of the Top 100 Solucient hospitals in the nation, and has some of the best nurses in the nation working for them.

Anyway, hope this helps!
