Hey folks, I know these may seem like rookie questions but I only got my green card last month so bear with me.
I’m currently torn between these two colleges. Which one is better if I want to transfer to a UC? Does it even matter which college I go to? And do I have a chance at transferring later on to UCLA if my current SAT score is 1330? Am I guaranteed to get into at least one of the UCs if I get the necessary grades? I’m talking about safety schools like riverside if I wasn’t able to get to UCI (My dream school :D) or UCLA. And will I need complete extra courses to apply to multiple unis to transfer, or are the requirements unified for all UCs? And what could I do to increase my chances of transferring?
It may matter if one or the other has better coverage of the major prep courses for your major at your target UCs and CSUs.
For junior level transfer admission to UCs, high school GPA and test scores are not used.
Depending upon major, the requirements to transfer could be different between the UC’s.
You can TAG (Transfer admission guarantee) to 6 of the UC’s if you meet the TAG course and GPA requirements for that campus. You can only TAG to one UC and some majors are excluded.
As stated above, you need to be Junior level transfer (60 semester/90 quarter units). HS GPA and test scores are not considered. What is considered is your CC GPA, completion of the transfer requirements and your personal insight essays.
Information about TAG is below: https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/admission-requirements/transfer-requirements/transfer-admission-guarantee-tag.html

What is your intended major? As noted by @ucbalumnus check each CC’s course offerings for your intended major.
The admissions counselors at the CCs might be able to give you some specific help with this. If not, find out who the Transfer Advisor is, and meet with that person.
Just having the word “Irvine” on your transcript might give you a bump, lol. It’s a city with a ridiculously strong academic reputation for all of its schools.
