is 10 units too much for a summer session?

any ucd folks out there...i was hoping i could get some input.

im planning to take MCB120L (Biochemistry Lab) which is a 6 unit course along with Physics7C which is 4 units for first summer session and Stats13 which is 4 units along with the continuation of MCB120L during the second session. Is that too much to handle for a summer session?

Ive never actually taken a summer course so Im not sure what the average # of classes people tend to take over the summer or whether the workload is any easier or harder than it is during the school year.

MCB120L = 6 units?
Physics7C = 4 units?
Stats 13= 4 units?

Total = 14 units?

I don’t understand this part but

Besides that, I don’t think taking both bio and physics over the summer is a good idea. But if you think you can handle it then sure. But usually you would want to take those classes over the longer semesters like spring and fall, so the pace is much more slower and you understand much clearer. But if you have a good track record in school, I don’t see the problem with taking three courses.

10 char…

i took 14

you can do it

@talebi818 Did you take those same classes, though? Physics and Microbiology both have enormous workloads.

@xninjaturtle Ideally, I would only focus on getting Microbiology out of the way this summer. If you want to take an extra class, maybe knock out a GE or two. Make sure they are easy GE courses, though.

I took History-3, Anthropology-3, Business-3, and PreCal-5

Business was a breeze but everything else was killer. For me it was hard because i would be at school from 8am-10pm with like a 30 minute break for the whole day only because i had to go to class. If you are taking like 2-3 classes you have time in the day to get stuff done whereas i had to stay up all night doing the actually classwork.

The units in the end don’t really matter because the teacher knows the class will be hard and they will cool off a bit with the work and other things. All that matters is if you have enough time to get things done.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention Biochemistry Lab (6 units) is a summer quarter long course so it starts in summer session I and overlaps into summer session II.

So I was thinking of taking Physics (4units) + Biochemistry Lab first summer session and Statistics and the rest of Biochemistry Lab the second summer session.

Thanks for your input everyone! :)
