Is 17 units too much?

i took 15 units first semester and with a job, I felt behind on the massive reading for history 7a.

next semester I'm signed up for math 16a, pmb 13, college writing r1a, philosphy (4 units) and a 1 unit seminar. I will also be having a job. Is this too much? I'm thinking of dropping the 1 unit seminar but would it make much of a difference on the workload? thanks! i don't want to fall behind on reading so much! (10 chapters)

Simply put, no.

the seminar wont make a difference…well it depends how efficient you are. if you fell behind already…well college writing isnt a piece of cake. neither is philosophy so i hear. but it depends how easy/difficult you think the classes are.

19 units of class would be too much

The common rule is you take your number of units, not including seminar units, if this is between 15 and 17 your load is essentially standard.
This works as long as your selection of classes isn’t exceptionally difficult

It’s doable.

I took 19 units and worked part-time last semester.

It looks doable. If you realize trouble in the first couple of weeks, you can always drop a class!
