Is 18 credits to much?

I am an upcoming Theatre Performance major at Kent State who is reauditioning for their Musical Theatre Performance next year. I was planning my first semester schedule out and this is what I got
Art of Acting 3
Making Theatre 2
Fundamental of Prodcution 4
Applied Voice 1
Studio Ballet 1 1
Studio Tap 1 1
Studio Modern 1 1
Human Biology w/ lab 4
Destination Kent 1
Which comes to a total of 18 credit hours, is this too much?

My daughter took 21 credits this semester as well as stage managed, was an RA and worked as the school’s theatre house manager. I think you are fine

Are you planning on also performing 1st semester (or working 1st semester)? My S had 19 hours his 1st semester freshman year and was in the Fall musical. At one point, he was regularly putting in 18+ hour days. It’s doable but if you are doing other things (show/work), you will be extremely busy! Good luck.

Probably not too much but there won’t be a lot of free time either!

If you are a good student academically, 18 units shouldn’t be an issue. My D has had 18-20 units most semesters, but she is pretty diligent with classes & homework. Agree that you will be busy, especially with 3 dance classes, but the pure academic classes aren’t that many.

Depending on the policies at Kent State, you may not be able to take 18 credits as a first semester freshman. You should be given an academic advisor who will help you with registration, and be able to answer questions about the specific policies there.
