Is 2 weeks enough time to learn to drive and pass the road test (NYS)?

I want to get my license ASAP. I've only driven like 3 times before, but am planning on taking as many private professional lessons as possible. Can I get to the point that I could pass the test in 2 weeks?

Yes, you can. However, you’re not going to be a “good” driver. LOL. I, for one, am not. :)

I don’t care if I’m good…I would like to be good enough to pass and be safe, but with the amount I’ll be driving after I get my license, I should be plenty good in no time. (I’m gonna drive about 40 minutes to a class 5 days a week then if I have work, 25 minutes from class to work, and another 20 minutes home plus whenever else I wanna go out).

Then you’re set! I’m assuming you’re from NY, b/c you posted (NYS). The NY test is about 10 minutes long. You should know how to do U turns, parallel parking, 3 point turns, and the basics, such as keeping the car straight down the road and making left and right turns. :)

Good Luck.

Yes, I am from NY. When I took the 5 hour the instructor said the test is 5-10 minutes long.

It takes about a month to actually get a date for the test though

I learned to drive over a year…

BUT… I think it is totally possible to pass after two weeks of practice.

That being said… you should drive like three hours a day over those two weeks… because it took me like two weeks before I even drove on a regular road. =/

yes, two weeks is enough.

Two weeks is enough to probably pass a road test, but you need experience to be able to “drive”. I’m glad you live across the nation from me, OP.

There was an appointment in 2 weeks which is why I asked. I decided it was too soon. BUT, I’m taking professional lessons, and they start you out on real roads because they feel it’s a waste of your time to not.

Where were you planning on taking the test?

I was looking at Syracuse…but basically anywhere within an hour of where I live is fine with me.
