So, the build season for robotics is starting and I want to join (and the officers said I still can!) But I am a junior right now. Will starting robotics this late be of any help to college apps? I'm just wondering because it is a huge time commitment.

Thanks for any help!

P.S I'm not sure robotics will be doing anything significant again first semester of next year, so 2 years might be too much to state with robotics.

I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t :)

I’m currently in my school’s robotics team for FTC competitions. I’m pretty sure that having been to many competitions, there are experiences that you can get

Yes, you definitely should join. It is a LOT of fun. My D is on a team; it just started at her school last year, and she is a senior this year, so she will just have two years. The season just kicked off, so you haven’t missed a lot. There is so much to do to get a robot ready for competition, and the competition is a ton of fun! Think like a big sporting event, but with robots. My D was what she calls a “dogsbody” last year – she just did whatever they needed her to do. She helped with build tasks, contacted sponsors, and wrote their entry essays for awards. They won a pretty big award, and she can claim that she was the primary author of their application. This year she wanted to be more involved with design and build, so in the fall she worked on learning the CAD software they use. So she is able to put on her college app this year that she is one of two specialists on the team in that software.

And… did I mention that it is a lot of fun? (I am a team mentor this year, so might be biased…). But you should join!
