Is 2300 enough?

My superscore line is 800 CR/ 700 M/ 800 W after two tests for a grand total of 2300.
This would be okay with me, but the huge discrepancy in math is worrisome as it does not reflect my ability. I have scored much higher (up to 800) in the blue book, and my wrong answers are always due to careless errors (I miss mediums, not hards). Should I try again in October for a higher score, or is it not worth it? BTW, I'm applying to top 20 schools for Biology (so I'd want to show aptitude in math) and my Math 2 was 750.

No, it’s not enough. You need perfect scores on every section if you want to gain admissions to the top schools. Your math should at least be a 790.

lol, you dont need perfect scores. Relax, as long as you have +2200, you should be fine.

CC is the only place where one would question a 2300 score!

yes sir…

I’d take that 2300 score any day…

A 2300 is one of those scores where for really high achieves, it is not fully satisfactory, but it is already a pretty solid score and not really worth retaking. Of course a 2350+ is going to be more satisfying, but it is so difficult to increase when you’ve already hit the top.

I would only retake if you are totally committed to studying and have lots of time. There is even a chance that your score may decrease, and that would just be a total backfire.

For me, the decision was easy. I got a 2180 in sophomore year, retook the January 2013 SAT and got the exact same score. That was when I buckled down and studied for the June SAT and got a 2360. It’s easy to improve when you haven’t even broken 2200 but very difficult when you’re already at 2300.

My friend is a case in point: 2280 -> 2340 -> 2330 (note the decrease) -> 2390. It took her 3 extra tries, but I don’t think you have that kind of time.

Anyways lol sorry for writing so much, a 2300 is a great score! Spend time studying for the ACT or writing college apps haha

Thanks for the responses! It’s not like I’m not happy with the score, but I know I can do better, and I don’t like settling for less. A 700 math score is just about 25% percentile for most of the schools I plan on applying to, and I’m banking on good test scores.

Sometimes I wish computers had the capability of screen-punch so that I could Chuck Norris punch whoever questions an SAT score above 2200+

2300 is a great score. If you can bundle it with an 800 in SAT2 Math2, you are all set. That would compensate your lower Math score. The SAT2 Math2 is more forgiven and allow more careless mistake and yet get 800.

you need to retake (being honest) and get that math up to at least 750+

you need 2401 at least to get into community colleges.

Yes of course, but you should still try to improve your math  I’m gonna do that too.

I had the exact same problem! I had a 2300 before and it was such an annoying score: not part of the 2200s but not in the 2300s either. Anyway, i retook it and scored a 2390! So I think you should go for it, just focus on math because for bio you should have a strong math background

study math section a lot and take the sat again, if you really want to. good luck

Try improving your math section up to at least 750+. Then you should be A-ok

A 2300 will get you pretty much anywhere, except maybe like Stanford if you have no EC’s or other appeal. You’re good to go and that’s a score just about anyone(especially myself) would die for.

A 2300 will get you in anywhere, including Stanford

If opting for any math related subjects( like engineering) you gotta increase your maths section…But I am surprised about your maths scores cause you seem to be elite student from your CR and writing section…800 wow…You can always get 750+ in Mathematics just consult the blue book more and you should be fine… :D

If you have a 2300 or above, you have an 18.7% chance of being admitted at Princeton:
