Is 2300 enough?

2300 is enough
but you will always wonder if you could have done better
so go do better

I strongly recommend you retake it again. The disparity between math and reading/writing makes the score kind of iffy. A 2300 comprised of a 740, 760, 800 would be fine, but still, it’s a great score!

no way dude! Aim for 2390+, or I doubt your community college will even want you!

It’s quite unnecessary; you [probably] won’t get into any schools that wouldn’t have taken you with a 2300

Serious answer: if you’ve only taken it once, I think I’d retake in your situation. You are interested in top 20 schools, and you are interested in a science-related major. That 750 Math Level II is good, but the curve on that test means that it’s not super-good.

At some of the most selective schools, a 700 math is about at the 25th percentile. I don’t think that’s the best place to be, if you think you can do better.

Normally I would say “no way!” But if you’re applying to a lot of prestigious schools, then you may want to re-take to raise your 700 in math. A lot of posters are saying that a 2300 is a great score (which it is) and that you shouldn’t retake. But not all 2300’s are created equal; if you had 760, 770, 770, then of course you wouldn’t retake it. But you may want to.

Nothing less than 2500 is acceptable. Go kill urself u failure!! :p

i have to completely disagree with you muhammad. you’re gonna need a 2900 with a 15+ on the essay. sorry but i’m not even sure a kindergarten would accept you with those abysmal scores…

Probably u should improve ur math score

This isn’t community College Confidential, predoc. Good luck at Keiser with a score like that.

I’d say it’s worth re-taking because you’ll barely have to study. You just have to practice skills to avoid careless errors like checking every problem and writing out all the steps.

2300 is absolutely close enough!

Yes, the math can be improved. However, I feel like it’s not worth retaking in the sense that you might risk getting, say, a 2280. Which is a good score as well but 2300-> 2280 looks kinda bad to colleges.

Only retake if a) you have nowhere else to spend the time (ACTs, subject tests, etc) or b) you are absolutely sure you can improve by at least 30-50 points.

2300 -> 2280 would NOT look bad to colleges. There is no statistical difference between the two scores, and colleges know that.

Most colleges superscore, so even if the CR and W scores were to drop a bit, it would still be helpful if the M score went up.

I repeat that the math score OP has is at the 25th percentile for a number of the highly selective colleges. Why would anybody think that is “absolutely close enough” for somebody who is interested in a STEM major? Certainly, it’s good enough for many, many excellent colleges. But that wasn’t the question.

Even if the scores have no statistical difference, it’s still a decrease regardless.

And I disagree. Unless, you’re Asian, 2300 should be enough…lol

Please explain why it should be enough to be at the 25th percentile point for math if you want to be a STEM major, whether you are Asian or not. It might be enough, especially if the rest of the qualifications are great.

You’re fine! Honestly a 2250 would be fine for top schools, and you’re way above that

Your scores are perfect the way they are. almost. it never hurts to take the tests again.

You can always change majors…get into the school first. A 2300 is enough for that.
