is 27/28 too old for grad school ?

i mean, will it decrease my chances of getting in good grad school?

bc i'll have to re-start school in Europe and it wont be this yr, so.... i am 23 but i'll finish at 27/28

i would like to go to grad school for psychology, something like organisational psychology, change leadership, ... human resources..

and i'd like to get full fin aid as international student

so assuming i have 4.0 or 3.9 GPA, excellent recommendations... ECs... will my age hurt ?

also, i dont want to do a research, i think, … something applied as i said in the OP, so is having a research necessary ? how it goes ?

also… how selective are grad schools are about intl students?

no, age wont hurt
but grad schools are VERY selective about international students.

Then why go if you don’t want to do research? Grad school is quite specialized and some research is part of the degree program.

A graduate program in clinical psychology which leads to becoming a therapist, wouldn’t require the same kind of research experience that other psychology programs would.

Don’t worry just yet about grad school. Finish your new undergraduate program first. While you are in that program, you will have time to think about your goals for your post-graduate studies.

My mom got her masters in her 40’s. So, short answer is no.

Don’t worry about age too much. Just focus on doing well as an undergrad.

thanks for answers.

of course i will worry now, i need to know what i am getting myself into.

TICKLEMEPINK: well, arent there grad schools about organizational psych etc? not only research

where would i have to go for ogranizational change/psychology, change leadership ?
for ex., something like this program: http://gseweb.harvard.edu/academics/doctorate/edld/curriculum/index.html</a>

Is psychology best undergraduate degree for that ?

fatpig554: hmmmm,… i heard on this board opposite, and that’s that it is not nearly as hard to get scholarship as intl for grad school as it is for undergrad if you were good student… ?

what is the age of typical grad school freshman ?

oh just figured out those links are phD, not masters. I hope there are some grad school focused on change leadership .

like this <a href=“Home | Pfeiffer University”>Home | Pfeiffer University;

I think psychology is a good undergraduate major to go with. If you can go with a minor in human resources or that, it certainly wouldn’t hurt, especially if you want to do something applied.

PhD is going to be rather research oriented and those programs are geared for that. It won’t make you less qualified for a job, but it might be too much for what you want to go into.

As an undergrad, research wouldn’t hurt, but I’d do internships if possible. I’m not sure how Europe works, though.

Europe works that it doesnt work, if i may say so. We dont have minors at all, so i cant minor in that… i can only do 1 thing. And not sure how would internship look, no such thing here. :(

and yeah i totally dont want to do research…
