is 3 courses too few?

my phase II appointment for telebears ends on monday, and so far i only have three courses + a seminar (13 units total) because every other class i have tried and/or am interested in are filled. i'm on the waitlist for another course, which would bump me up to 17 units. i was told to take it easy while i'm still adjusting my first semester (i havent been able to go to calso or anything because of the distance) but since everything is filled up, i'm thinking should i just take a random "filler" class that really has nothing to do with my major? heres what i got:

Econ1
English 39AC
English 45B
New Latin American Cinema (seminar)

i've seen most people have either four classes, or three classes and a seminar. i'm worried about the difficulty of economics for me, but my schedule looks pretty bare. what do you guys think?

Your schedule actually looks fine. There is actually no specific limitation to how many class you are taking. But there are minimum units (13 for L&S). So for your schedule, you are just fine. My adviser in Calso actually suggest 13-15 units for the first semester, because there will be a lot of adjusting to do once you arrive a Berkeley. If you feels like you are behind, try picking up a 1-2 unit Decal (Student made seminar) or other two units classes, they are often quite easy to pass.

I am currently enrolled in 15 units. which is consisted of three classes and two seminar/Decal
Good Luck :)

I am happy to see someone else taking English 45B If it makes you feel better, my schedule is:

Psych 1
English 45b
L & S 1
Nutritional Science and Toxicology 10

I have 12 units atm but I am waiting for the housing seminar to be open for registration, so that’ll put me up at 14. You’re fine!

okay, thank you for the replies!
i’ll see how things go once classes start i guess, but i feel a little more relaxed now

13 Units is OK. Just take more classes later. With planning, the fewer units should be easy to replace. Don’t do it for more than 2 semesters though.
