What schools would you suggest for someone like me?

Is 31 on ACT good?
YES! Too many people will say that a 31 is a mediocre score, but when compared to the rest of the country, that is quite fantastic!

31 is pretty good. I can’t predict or suggest schools based only on ACT scores though.

Depends…a 31 is on the lowerer margin(BUT STILL GOOD) when it comes to High-level schools such as the Ivies, Vanderbilt, or UC schools but it is a great score for other schools.

It’s in the 96th percentile of recent high school graduates.

A 31 is a high score for about 90% of all colleges in the US. For most high ranks, it is within the middle 50% range of those admitted but on the lower part of that middle 50% range for a number of them (still should apply). For MIT and Caltech, and possibly a few others it is on the low side.

In other words, your score is good enough to apply almost anywhere and may even help (if you also have high grades) to get some merit aid from a number of colleges not in the high ranks.

Where you should apply is thus ultimately up to you. It is usually a good idea to apply to your home state public university, and then for others choose ones you like but make sure they include not just high ranks but those you can easily get into.

Good for what?

It’s better than a 30 and not as good as a 32.

Of course it’s a good score. You should be confident of the score on almost every campus in the U.S. For the most selective schools (which are reaches for everyone) it’s on the low side but it is not low enough to hold you back if accompanied by good grades, EC, Essay and recommendations.

Someone mentioned it a lower margin score for the UC schools but I disagree. It’s only a lower margin for UC Berkeley. It at the 75th percentile or higher for the other 8 campuses.

Yes, it is a good score - congratulations!
