I recently gave the ACT and scored a 33. However, my individual scores are spread over a wide range. I got 36 in Sci, 35 in Maths, 32 in Eng and 27 in Reading. Is such a spread out score good? Should I give the ACT again? I am planning to apply in CMU, Geogia Tech, Caltech, UCB, UCLA, UCSD
Your call; your scores are very good as is. The only problem I see with retaking is your composite currently is 32.5, which rounds to 33. To get a 34 C, you’ll have to gain 4 additional points if that makes sense. Ideally, you could maybe bring up reading to 30 and get another point form math or english? I wouldn’t sweat it though…33 is great.
That score is not good enough for Cal Tech.
If you can, give it another try with focused prep in Reading.
