I am a sophomore in highschool that is trying to form my junior years schedual but i am not sure if i could be successful in the classes that i choose which are
Anatomy and physiology H
Pre-Calc H
Journalism
Reaserch class (a class where we study for our ap classes)
Ap Environmental Science
Ap statistics
Ap Us History
Ap/Dual enrollment English Language and composition (haven’t disided yet)
This year i am only taking 1Ap which is Psych so i am not sure if this schedule is going to be too hard for me
Nobody here knows you or what you are capable of. Some students do fine with 4 AP’s; others struggle with one. My only concern, and this depends upon colleges you are targeting, is the lack of a foreign language. I will also say that few schools allow sophomores to take more than one or 2 AP’s, so it is normal to jump from 1 AP sophomore year to more than 1 junior year. If your teachers and GC think you can handle 4, you probably can.
All my teachers signed off and agreed on me being capable of these ap courses but i am not sure if they are going to be hard all together i had straight A’s last year and uptill now this year and i already finished French 1 and 2 in middle school and freshmen year
And thank you for the advice
Do your teachers know you’re considering taking four AP classes, and did they sign off knowing that? If not, you could speak to a teacher who knows you well and get his/her advice on your course load. Of the courses you’ve listed: APUSH and AP Lang & Comp both tend to require a LOT of reading and writing, and likely will involve a very significant amount of homework; AP env sci tends to be easier for most students; AP stats can go either way. Pre-calc will probably be quite demanding.
Four APs can be accomplished but it’s not right for everyone.
I am thinking of taking English dual enrollment in summer so i would not haveto worry as much
If you have the time to take DC English over the summer that might be a very good option for you. My S took DC US History in summer 2016. He had an excellent teacher and really enjoyed the class. It was a lot of work but he still had time to do plenty of other things over the summer. He’s taking six APs now in his junior year and he’s grateful to have done history over the summer, when he could focus on that one class and really get a lot out of it. His friends in APUSH now are mostly taking five or six APs and they aren’t able to enjoy APUSH as much because of so many other demands on their time. His school is more of a pressure cooker with lots of students really loading up on APs, and some kids get very stressed. I’m certainly not advocating that kind of course load for everyone.
