Is 4 classes in one day too much?

Right now I have 4 classes Monday/Wednesday from 10 - 5pm with an almost 1 hour break between them. 3 of the classes are only 50mins and 1 is 1hour and 15mins.

Tuesday/Thursday I have only 2 classes from 10 - 2:30pm and they're both 1hour and 15mins.

My last class on Monday/Wednesday is a 50minute one that I could move to Tuesday/Thursday at 8-9am.

Is 4 classes for one day too much - like work-wise and just the fact I'll probably be exhausted? Is it worth the extra sleep on Tuesday/Thursday or is it better to just have the 8am class and have 3 classes every day and get out around 3pm every day?

I had 4 classes in one day my first semester of college and I had no trouble adjusting. One from 9-10, 11-12, 12-1, and 4 to 5. It wasn’t an issue at all. I mean yeah, I had a long break from 1 to 4, but it didn’t have an affect on me.

I would recommend you keep your class at 10 rather than 8 because although waking up at 7ish rather than 9ish is only a two hour difference in real hours, it’s a world of difference in college hours.

Well last year I had a class at 9 and though it was slightly hard to get up in time for it, I was able to take long naps once they were finished. And I had the whole afternoon open. I’m just worried that 4 classes in a day is too much to deal with and that the work might start building up.

Try it and see if it works for you. I personally prefer having my classes more spread out if possible, but in past quarters where I couldn’t do that it was definitely doable to have most/all of my classes on certain days. You’ll be fine either way, though it may not end up being your preferred schedule.

I agree with 908kiddo. I’m a morning person and 8am is too early for me to actually be out and in class. Those two hours will make all the difference.

On the other hand, many people find after 4pm classes a real drag. If you’re a morning person you’ll be fine at 8 am for two days.

4 classes on the same day shouldn’t be a big problem. You either have the free time mon/wed evening, or tues/thurs morning. It shouldn’t make a difference in terms of work - you’re still taking a total of 6 classes!

Think about how you would use the time - if you take the morning class, what are you going to do m/w from 4-5pm? If you need to get up for an 8am class, are you going to go to bed early enough to get up and be fully awake for class?

If you take the m/w class, you won’t have to get up early, so you can work later in the evening, or get up and work as if you had an 8am class.

My preference would be to start classes consistently at 10am all week - there’s something to be said for a regular sleep cycle. But also, unless there’s something specific you would want to do 4-5pm, the hour or so before dinner often gets wasted. If that class could be moved the t/th afternoon, my answer would be different.

I’m just worried I would be burned out T/Th with so much going on. Then again it’s only an additional 50 minutes. And that’s a good point - I don’t know what I’d be doing in that 4-5pm window.
The class is Business Computing so I’m guessing I’d need to be pretty awake and well-rested before it which would make the 4pm class better rather than 8am. If only it was offered at 9am!

I average to like four classes a day for my first semester, so I hope it’s not too awful. My Friday is five classes, which is going to suck, but I didn’t have much of a choice in my schedule.

This past quarter I had classe Tuesday and Thursday from 8-950, 10-1150, 1-250 and 300-450. Would I recommend this? No. Did I get used to it? Of course.

I’ve had seven classes in one day before. You’ll be fine.

i think the bigger problems lie in the quantity of pre-11 am classes, but that’s just me.
