Is 5 AP's going to be too difficult as a sophomore?

I might take 5 AP's next year. They are:

Calc BC
Stats
Computer Science A
Macroeconomics
English Language and Composition

Plus

Honors Chemistry and possibly 2 study halls.

I will self study AP Macro before that, so subtract that. I will also self study a little bit of AP Stats.

Do you guys think I could handle the course load? Please tell me, I desperately need some advice!

Well it really depends on your teacher
Calc, Sats, and Comp Sci aren’t hard
Eng might be a bit hard
Be prepared to stay up though

OK :(…how many hours/day of homework do you think I’ll get? Our classes meet once every 2 days, btw.

Dang, we only had one AP option when I was a sophomore.
But yeah I think it also depends on the teacher. Some are pretty easy and make the class really not even an AP class anymore (though passing the AP test is a different story). My friend took 4 AP’s when she was a senior and I think she did okay. If you can pick up the materials easily, you won’t have to spend a lot of time studying.

Depends on your background. If you’re good with math and computer science, the first three APs should be a breeze.

Doesn’t sound like too much of an overkill. At least it wouldn’t be at my school. But lucky duck, my school requires students to be juniors or seniors except for AP CS or for other APs, only under very special circumstances.

Where is your foreign language?
Tippy top schools want to see 3-4 years of the same fl on your transcript.

Sounds way too difficult.

The only class that could be hard would probably be the calculus class, but if you’re taking it you must be qualified for it.

You’re so lucky, I can only take one AP class this year. Anyways, good luck with your classes!

Every school is different. If you are concerned about workload, you really need to talk to older kids in your school who are in those classes now, or already took them. And make sure you talk to kids who are comparable students to you, because some kids will find these classes much harder than others. People who don’t know your school, your teachers, your ability, and your work habits really can’t put a number on how many hours of work this would be for you.

Your proposed schedule lacks the following courses that would generally be required of sophomores at our school: world history, foreign language, PE/health/driver’s ed. You need to check the graduation requirements for your high school. And many top colleges expect foreign language and history–check on the colleges you think you are likely to apply to. I think it would be a mistake to limit your college options by skipping foreign language even if your high school allows that.
