Is a 1270 WAY too low.

Is is impossiable to get into ND with a 1270 and Average other stuff, If I write an amazing Essay. I'm contemplating weather or not to apply. Perhaps I just need some assurance that I have no chance at all.

Do you know of anyone that got in with that low of an SAT that wasn't like Validictorian.

Well I am not that knowledgeable about the ND admissions process, but it seems like you still have a shot if the rest of your credentials are up to par.

I will be honest; in my experience ND has been much more strict on SAT's of late. I have a friend who was top 1% of her class and I believe had about a 1360 and was waitlisted and rejected.

You never know, as they say in Rudy the admissions office is "a funny bunch of squirrels" but I would definately try to take it again if you still have time. I don't think that that alone is going to kill you but everything else would have to be really good, so it is worth taking it another shot. Then again, you never know what they are looking for exactly or what they may find in you that they don't see in any other applicant. Good luck!

Where is everyone applying from in Notre Dame?? Just curious...

I'm from Arkansas...

Mississippi

Kentucky..

Good thread, but can we start a new one for the states?

Mostly from the Midwest states, I see.

Maybe it's just not as "prestigious" to some Northeasterners as the Ivies.

I would re-take the SAT if you have time. My D only took it only once, 1300, ACT was 31, top 2% of class, GPA 3.985 unweighted, amazing EC's, etc. She was deferred ED and waitlisted RD at ND. At that point she decided to remove her name from the waitlist as they had passed her application over twice. D is very stubborn and refused to "campaign" any further. She chose a school that showed her they really wanted her so it all worked out. Best of luck to you!

Wow, i would've thought that she would get in, admissions officers are fickle though so.....

New Jersey!

Yea, its kind of sad the lack of respect ND gets here. I love ND w/ a passion and always am talking about it... and I am known for my grades & scores etc etc so people are always surprised I'm interested in ND. Also, a lot of people carp on the religion aspect.. which drives me up a wall! Anyway, whatever they say about only the people who need know about it know about it.. hahah I just completely bungled that.. but I hope you understand what I mean

I echo the sentiment that it is impossible to guess which the admissions office is ever going to do things. I don't think a 1270 is going to make or break your application. That having been said, I would hope you have something that would really make you stand out to whomever reads your application simply because you are below the average as far as SAT is concerned. Good luck. Since I'm no longer doing the standardized test thing is it possible to still take SAT and have the scores count? December used to be the last one you could take...did you take ACT and is that score better than you SAT?

S- Southern New Jersey :)

woot...south jersey...thats where i applied from im so nervous alot of my friends are finding out all around me...i just wanna know!

My D applied---California

Have you noticed almost nobody from New England??

Well - I applied from MASSACHUSETTS. I think it will be tough for me to get in. I am from a competitive Catholic high school. I have a 1230 SAT (1900/2400) and a 3.6 weighted GPA. I am a legacy as my father is a graduate who donates about $500 a year. I work for 4 publications as a sports writer and will send a recommendation from a writer at the Boston Globe and clippings. Also, I believe I wrote a tremendous essay. My ECs are up to par - and I'm Jewish (don't know if that makes a difference. It is my dream school - I pray I get in.

wow, I fogot I even wrote this. sorry I didn't respond but I do appreciate the Feedback. I was just trying to get some Closure, so I could be happy with the decision not to apply. Since I already got accepted to PSU I was contemplating applying to my dream school, but now it's basically too late. and I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have gotten accepted anyways. So thanks, and if anyone would like to tell me I wouldn't have gotten in, feel free to.

I really didn't have anything that would make me stand out either.
