I've read over a couple posts saying Mich de-emphasizes the SAT but still. A 30 ACT and 1350 (690M 660CR) is competitive right? Also, 710 Math1 and USH and 3.87 UW. Idk if this has any bearing but also family income >200k.

30 ACT and 1350 (690M 660CR) is fairly average, certainly not competitive for OOS. However, that is not to say you don’t have a shot.

As square said, not competitive but you’re in range.

The mid 50% stats for admitted students last year was:

GPA:
3.7-4.0 (unweighed)

SAT:
1300-1500

ACT:
29-33

That’s for all admitted students, including athletes, URMs and in-staters. Non-URM OOS applicants will likely have slightly high stats. This year should see another 20%-25% increase in applicants, so those stats will probably rise further.

If you’ve got good extracurriculars & a good essay, it’ll be more than fine.

I had a 1320 SAT & a lower GPA than you but I had decent EC’s and put some good effort into the essays.

Wolverine, many students with good credentials get in…but more do not. Your guaranteeing the OP’s acceptance is misleading.

A 3.87 unweighted GPA is certainly competitive even for OOS admission. The test scores should be sufficient - I don’t think that higher test scores would have a material impact on your chances. More important factors are the rigor of you high school curriculum and whether a 3.87 from your high school is as meaningful or more meaningful than a 3.87 at a different high school. Good EC’s, essays and recs may help tip the balance.

I would definitely apply. I would consider Michigan a match and not a reach or a safety. Not a slam dunk.

thanks everyone. i’ve already applied EA and (from what I’ve been told) my commonapp essay was stellar and my 2 teachers wrote really good recs. i’d consider my two supplement essays average, although i hope my desire to attend mich was apparent through them.

The selection process is always difficult and there is a large number of talented individuals with diverse backgrounds participating in admission table.

my chance for OOS 30 ACT and 1350 (690M 660CR) GPA 3.87 UW is
25/75 but 10/90(coast side state Asian)

I would recommend submit application, who know.
you have a chance .good luck.

hey, good news the SAT went up to 1390 (690M 700CR). on WolverineAccess it says they recieved the November SAT, but will this score be used in EA admissions if they hadn’t reviewed my app yet?

i honestly would just send your ACT. too many ppl send both, but in most cases, one will be slightly better than the other. A 30 is plenty competitive for OOS, it won’t make you stand out, but its the average of ACCEPTED students.

when i took the ACT, I had it forwarded it to Mich. on WA it says they have my ACT score. however, on my commonapp i chose not to report it under the ACT section (left it blank). that shouldn’t be an issue right?

It is not an issue if you leave the score blank on the common app. My daughter left it blank because she also applied to test optional schools where she chose not to submit her scores.
