I have a 2230 superscored (720 reading, 710 math, 800 writing, 12 essay) but i'm not sure if this is high enough. I've already taken the test 3 times (i don't wanna count one of them though because it was with no practice and just to see what i would get.. and i did badly lol) and I really dont think I should be taking it again, or maybe if I have to I will?

Anyway, do you think this score is too low? I really doubt I could get it higher, maybe if I just scored higher in math (WAY too many careless mistakes!!). I'm just on CC so much and it seems like everyone has a 2340+ and I'm not totally sure if that's indicative of the real applicant pool... argh.

Oh, and if it matters, I have a 33 ACT and am retaking in June for a 34. Thank you!!!!

Your hunch about not wanting to take the SAT again is probably right. According to the Harvard admissions website they imply that they disapprove when people take the SAT more than twice (something about “diminishing returns,” lol). Anyway, I’m not sure what a 33 on the ACT scales to… I think a 2180? You might want to check that just in case I’m wrong. What I’d say is don’t bother retaking the SAT; and if you’re going to retake the ACT, then yeah aim for a 34-36.

Honestly, though, it’s not like a certain score is “too low for Harvard”; I have friends who got in with a 2100 superscored. You’d have a much higher chance if you focused on your grades, ECs, etc. rather than on standardized tests.

Well looking at your individual scores, you seem fine. If you have >700 in all three sections, you won’t be rejected from the top colleges just because of your SAT scores. If you’re a junior right now you could spend that time on other areas like essays and ECs. And plus, if you’re already studying for ACT, why not focus on ACT completely?
