I think you should retake for a 31-32 to be competitive for Cornell. But a 28 won’t get you rejected at the others (I don’t think a 28 by itself will get you rejected at Cornell either…but you would have to have an amazing application to get in, if memory serves me correctly 28 is about 25% maybe a bit below 25%ile for Cornell).

28 is a good score for most of the schools on your list. You may want to retake it for scholarships even more than for admissions consideration. Keep in mind that a 28 is a good score. Did you take the SAT?

Actually, thats a really good score. Most people here are saying that its a bad score because everyone here has a 30 +. The average score in the nation is a 20-21.

Not only that, but a score of 28 itself isnt going to get a person rejected. Admissions is a holistic process and takes into account grades, scores, essay, and ECs.

a 28 falls into the average i thought you were just comparing how good a score is to the national average. a 25 is good, but most likely not getting you into Cornell. However, i think a 28 CAN get you rejected from Cornell (what college at Cornell? that matters too…). If you have time, i would retake.

I’m applying to CALS at Cornell. I retook my ACT and I scored 3 points lower, and did worse on each subject, but there was a reason for my significant drop, though it won’t do me any good to explain it to colleges.

I have no idea about CALS. But 28 is definitely within range of Cornell, though if you have ur eyes set on Cornell, I would retake in December. But hey dont let me get you down, that’s only cornell. I think a 28 is enough for the rest on that list

28 is a good score, one to be proud of. Do your EC’s, GPA and essay support it? Then don’t doubt yourself. If you think there is room for improvement, then go for it. Good Luck!

I retook it and got significantly lower on each section
My gpa is a B+, and my school doesn’t weigh averages as many other schools do. If it was weighed, it would probably be closer to an A-.
