Okay, I attend the UNiversity of Virginia and it's a pretty tough school. Right now my grades aren't exactly A's or anything, and I am wondering is this normal?? I mean is getting a C in college a normal part of the college experience? And is a GPA ranging from 3.0-3.5 considered good or crap?? just wondering....

well i know that at my school (wharton) the ave. GPA is a 3.2, I also know that in our class of 500 probably no more than like 100 have above a 3.5 and no more than 20 have above a 3.7

yea, in college your grades are alot lower because the classes are harder. my uncle went to wharton 20 years ago i guess and he got all A's. He must be super smart.

Depends on your major. For a liberal arts major it's okay.. for a communications major it's sucky. For an engineering/physics/hard raw science major it's fantastic.

And it really depends on your school and the classes you fall in. I don't want to sound like an arrogant jerk but because of the classes I fell into, I'll probably finish my first semester as a Math major (at BYU) with a 3.74 and I go to class maybe 30% of the time. Certain sections of certain classes have class policies that make it very easy to get good grades. In the end, you've just got to look back and be content with yourself and your efforts.

i'm a freshman at dartmouth- and I totally know what you mean. I'm hoping to get a 3.0 this term. I really set myself up thinking I could get away working only a bit harder than I did in high school- totally wrong. I'm going to really work hard next term. I think, however, at a place like UVA- getting a 3.2 your first semester is entirely alright.

It depends a lot on the school, too. Many of the so-called elite private schools practice huge grade inflation, whereas the large publics usually do not.
