Ok I know it's not good, but what would be a good OOS competitive ACT score? Also, is a 660 Math II score acceptable?

The ACT score is probably fine (their range is 27-33) but the math probably isn’t.
Generally anything over 700 is what you want.

my SAT is a 2080 with 710 in History and 660 in Math II. so it’s best to focus on the ACT in september and, in worse case scenario, send the 30? thanks for the advice

Actually your 2080 is better than your 30. If you wanted, you could try and improve your SAT to over 2100. But yeah if that doesn’t work out or you can’t do it that way, sending the 30 (or a better score from september, if that happens) would be fine I’m sure.

yeah but with the ACT, then I don’t need to send the subject tests (which are mediocre) right? so then all they’d see is the 30?

Yes. If you choose to send the SAT you will have to send in the SAT subject tests as well.
My recommendation would be to take the ACT again. Because a 30 is equivelant to a 2000. So the SAT isnt all that much better. So if you retook the SAT and got a 2100, thats awesome, but you would probably want to take the subject tests again. So thats 3 tests vs. one test you have to take again.
Honestly a 30 is pretty good. Your second try you could get a 31-32 which is about the equivilant of a 2100. Also it is a shorter test.
Unless you want to take three tests again instead of one test again, you would be saving time and money by taking the ACT again (which again, is not THAT different from your SAT score).

Huh, Berkeley doesn’t require subject tests anymore for 2012 admissions. And the ACT didn’t substitute for subject tests in 2011 either.

from collegeboard:

SAT & ACT Policies
For admission decisions:
Required: SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests; or ACT
If submitting ACT, the writing section is required

Other test policies:
All applicants must complete 2 SAT Subject Tests in different subject areas. If Math SAT Subject Test is taken, must be Level 2. Test scores must meet criteria determined by the applicant’s residency and high school GPA.

Wrong.

Collegeboard is incorrect and was incorrect when I applied to Berkeley as well.

thanks! think a 710 in math1 and us history strengthens my app much?

They might. Don’t send anything below a 700 and now you don’t even need to worry about retaking subject tests.
