Is a 30 good enough for the University of Michigan?

I just got a 30 on my ACT and I was wondering if that is good enough or not? I had a 34 on reading, 32 on math, 27 on science and 25 on English. I had heard that the 2 most important scores were English and math so should I retake my ACT purely for improving my English score?

Thanks

are you in state or out of state? It also depends on your GPA and stuff… I wouldn’t worry too much though, a 30 is pretty good.

I’m in state and my GPA is 3.78. Also I’m really just wondering about the 25 I got on English, its really got me worried.

Yep, your fine. IS for UMich is not too difficult… and a 30 is more than enough. Congrats!

yeah, you should be good. It depends on how many AP classes you take and whatnot, but you shouldn’t have much problem getting into U of M.

If you’re thinking you can do better than do better. I got in with a 29 but my sub-scores were a little more balanced (I only had 26 English but I applied to Engineering).

Cool, thanks for the replies, really appreciate it. And also I have taken 3 AP classes

I was looking at a U of M flyer a month or two ago and it said that the middle 50% of students have a 28-32, so you are right in the middle. Your GPA is pretty good and you are in state, so I think you have a very good chance as long as you have decent EC and a pretty good course load. You do have a wide discrempancy between scores, so if you think you can raise them I would recommend doing that. Retaking the ACT might also depend on what you are planning to go into. Good Luck with everything! :)

My cousin got in with a 30 composite. But then again, he was REALLY involved in everything at school (president, homecoming king, football team) and probably had a decent GPA.

So that raises a question for me.

What would a good score for an out of state applicant be?

Could we have a good shot with a 29-30? Or be better with a higher score of 31+?

29-30 shouldn’t be an issue…but the decision can be very close depending on a school like Stanford vs. UM

I had a friend get in OOS with a pretty good gpa ~3.9 and a 30 ACT

is the 3.78 u of m recalculated? either way i’m sure your fine with a 30

if you’re still a junior you might want to consider more AP classes, i think (not to be quoted) u of m average is 4 or 5
with good essays and recs, you should be in easy

Yeah, you’ll be fine with a 30. my boyfriend got in early in-state with a 28 and similar gpa.

i have a 2.8 GPA with a 19 ACT, do i have a chance at Umich?

Around 0%, give or take.

ouch… don’t sugarpad anything eh?

Doesn’t matter… Dnlgao is joking. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/692784-act-score-predictions-2.html#post1062297276</a> His ACT best is 31.

30 should be competitive at University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. Though 31 would have probably done more.

19 ACT–> unless your an athlete

I am international (canada) and I applied to UM for college of LSA undecided with two 26 ACT’s (20/25 english, 29/29 math, 25/25 science, 29/25 reading) and didn’t get in.
