Is a 600 CR going to be a KILLER?

I received my Dec scores and my scores are 600 CR 770 M 670 W.
I'm worried that my 600 is going to kill my chance. Should I retake the SAT I or II again in Jan?
I have 720 Math II and 700 Chem.

I'm not applying to Ivies....except for Cornell CALS. I only want to apply to NYU CAS, USC, Geog Tech, etc.

all depends on where you want to go

It all depends on the rest of your application. Harvard Yale Princeton and Stanford don’t just look at your SAT scores. Did you take Subject Tests? You need to have done well on them.

to HopefulEagle86,

lol no I’m definitely not applying to Harvard Yale Princeton and Stanford, except for Cornell CALS. I only want to apply to NYU CAS, USC, Geog Tech, etc. , and i got a 720 on Math II and 700 on Chem

NYU shouldn’t be that hard to get into. My friend got into Stern without SAT IIs and SAT scores. He got 34/36 on the ACT. Others is a shot. Go for it.

By the way, how do you get over 700 on the Math? Im a senior and Im taking my SAT last time in January cause my scores have been horrible. When I take practices in Princeton review book, I get 560 or 580. However, when I used blue book edition 1, I scored 600-630. I’m looking to raise it up to 650 by Jan. 23. I just got my second edition blue book today from Barnes Noble and I have the Barron’s 2009 at home. Do you think just by those two for this break can break me an 1850+?

to those of you struggling with the SAT, I highly suggest taking a shot at the ACT…

Hopeful: if you are scoring sub-600, I would suggest that Barron’s is too difficult. You are missing too many medium problems, and PR and Kaplan do those well. Barron’s has a tendency to be more esoteric, by covering a problem type that appears once every several years.

I wouldn’t approach the ACT since I’ve been used to the SAT for a long time. I can tag a good score if I wanted to, but sometimes I just put unneccessary pressure on myself on the questions.

For the math, I usually get most questions right (including more than some in the barrons), but it’s usually the hard ones that cost me to omit them.

i’d say you have a good shot at Gatech

check out the sat ranges at the collegeboard website
