i have a 2290 in my sat 1 but my sat 2s sorta suck

math2 - 780
chem - 630

im planning to retake in jan but i dont know if i can get my chem score up and im taking world history and dont know how i'll do on that. also i dont know if theyll get my jan scores on time.

so do u guys think ill get in ( not asking for aid) with a 630 ?

ecs and essays are good, recos are brilliant and school grades are in the tp 7%

You have a shot- are you applying to the college or SEAS? From personal experience, seems like SEAS cares a lot more about your subject tests than the college does

I know that a girl from my D’s school got into both Harvard and Princeton (didn’t apply to Columbia) with a great rank (I’m pretty sure a 5.0+ valedictorian) but AT LEAST one of her SAT I scores was in the 600s. I just happened to remember that because I thought it stood out so much. Granted, I’m sure she was also a musician and an athlete, plus the GPA/rank. So…again…just showing how ONE score is not a deal-breaker.

rumjhum is off - SAT IIs can be super important. and your 630 is an anomaly. i think kids get their info wrong a lot here, from the horses mouth, adcoms have said in enough information sessions i have heard that they care about SAT IIs.

so the anomaly has to be outweighed by other evidence. most certainly the adcoms will talk about it. real question - what do you want to major. a science? do you have other AP or a predicted IB scores that can outweigh the 630?

its not a death sentence, but i think we should 1) realize the OP has really not given enough information for us to make any considerable evaluation, 2) it would be generally impossible for us to predict how the regional officer will react (his/her reaction could be as varied as ours, and depends on whether the student is international, domestic, from a high achieving high school or not).

but on the merits

a) a 630 is not too low in the sense that folks have been admitted with it.
b) it is below average for CU, whereas the rest of your testing is above average
c) SAT IIs are important
d) subject tests and their relationship to prospective plan of study matter
e) there is one more shot to take subject tests in January
