Is a 730 SAT II Literature score worth sending into HP?

The percentile for a 730 is 90th on the SAT II Literature Exam. Is it worth sending this to Harvard or Princeton, or schools of similar caliber with score choice, along with two other SAT IIs? (750 (nonnative foreign language), 770 (science)).

ABSOLUTELY. 730 is a very high SAT-II Lit score. It’s an extremely difficult test, and anything over 700 is comparable to a 5 on AP Lit. (I teach prep for both of these tests)

So would adcoms view it at “Oh he got a 730 on this but its kinda harder to get a 730 on lit than it is on math 2 or chem or bio or whatever so its really slightly higher than the score”?

Yes, without a doubt. And FAR fewer students take Lit than take those other exams. Lit is almost a prestige test–very few students are qualified to take it and of those very few get 700+.

Your 730 is equivalent to a 780 or 800 in Math II, imo.

730 Lit is the same percentile as 800 Math II.

Damn. Now I am worried. I am planning to take the SAT lit. Thanks a lot guys!! Lol.

I’m guessing a 660 on the Lit test won’t cut it? lol…

660 on Lit is nothing to sneeze at.

Meh, I’m retaking it . If I get a 700+ I’ll be happy…

If you get 700+ it will have been worth it. Best of luck!

I thought percentiles didn’t matter…?
Ugh anyway I wish I did better on Lit.

I don’t know what you are talking about. Just look at the pdf, Lit is actually the second most popular (next to Math II).

Also, if your wondering why the SAT Lit percentiles are so high, its because the group of test takers is less self selected. At least where I go to school, if you have no idea which SATII’s to take, you just take Literature.

Yes, as a result of self-selection the percentiles don’t matter as much on SAT subject tests. I would certainly recommend sending your 730.

Literature is actually the third most popular (next to Math II and U.S. History).

Decillion, always reach for the stars. When I first took sat II lit i got a 710 and retook it. I got a 790 and I believe it was the sole factor for my acceptance into Princeton two yrs. ago. You have the potential; study and retake and don’t listen to anyone who says anything above 700 will “fly.” All the best.

I think your cutting yourself short if you think that a single SATII subject test was the sole factor of your getting into Princeton.

Thanks for the encouraging words, but it’s not really an “option” for me to retake and “reach for the stars” at this point. 1) I’m a senior. 2) I am busy on Saturday with a more important commitment than wasting a couple hours taking another test. 3)I already applied to Princeton SCEA and sent them my SAT Is, three SAT IIs, and ACT. 4) I honestly don’t think improving any of my subject test scores, which aren’t perfect but are all in the mid to high 700s, will be a deciding factor on my admissions decision.
