Recently, I'm choosing between different brands of laptops, and it really gives me a big headache.

I'm really really tired of choosing, and I wonder that is it possible if I don't have a personal computer and just use computers in dorm or libraries

I would think that a personal computer would make life much easier for you, but I have been told that you can get by without one.
As for brands, just go for whichever one you can get a good deal on for simple word processing/internet usage (unless you need to be able to run certain programs for your major, but in that case you could probably just use computer labs anyway). If you feel that a personal computer isn’t that important that you would be willing to dorm/library computers, I’m assuming you aren’t looking for too much power and won’t be using it much, so you can get a pretty cheap, still decent computer from pretty much any company (I would recommend Sony, Dell, HP, Toshiba, or Apple, simply for the quality of the computer, although some of these may be in the higher price range).

Why don’t you contact the Wash.U. IT people and see what they offer/recommend? Some institutions offer laptops with great service plans. You will need laptop service sometime during your four years and you will have trouble doing it yourself. Trust me.

The things are hard to take apart without special tools and jigs and are even harder to put back together. Adding a hard drive or memory to a desktop is like trimming a hangnail. Laptop service is like changeing a dressing on a stitched wound. You can do it but you will be sorry you didn’t utilize a professional.
