I have 1 D in chemistry and it’s the only that I have gotten. I went to my counselor to ask if it transfers and she said yes but I felt like it wasn’t true. I asked her again and she said yes again and was mad at me for asking again. I have heard universities don’t accept D’s in classes but she said since it goes under in the CSUGE area B1 for Physical Science and B3 for Labs, it will transfer. Is this true for CSU’s?
- The applicant must complete transferable courses (CSU GE category A) with grades of C- or better in written communication, oral communication, and critical thinking.
- The applicant must complete one transferable course (CSU GE category B4) with a grade of C- or better in mathematics or quantitative reasoning. The mathematics course is expected to have intermediate algebra as a prerequisite unless completion of category B is certified or the student has earned an Associate Degree for Transfer from a California Community College.
- The applicant must have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better in all transferable college units attempted.
- The applicant is expected to be in good standing at the last college or university attended (i.e. eligible to re-enroll at that college or university).
It may make a difference if you plan to transfer as a STEM major and Chemistry is a major requirement.
I’ve met all the requirements in 1-4. I got 1 A, 3 B’s, and 1 C fall 2017 semester and my GPA is 3.0. What do you mean it will make a difference if I plan on transferring to a STEM major? I’ve been accepted by a CSU for mechanical engineering and it’s in the lower division requirement. Could the D be bad?
Depending upon the CSU, a D or F prior to transferring could result in having your acceptance being rescinded. Did the CSU spell out what is required to maintain your provisional admission? I would contact the CSU directly and find out if the D will be an issue. Make sure you document whom you speak with and keep any correspondence.
CSU Chico portal says is to finish the courses that I have in progress in this spring and to send a final transcript. I will probably call them about the D if it will be a problem. Thank you for the help. Much appreciated.
