Is a disabled worker considered a "dislocated worker"?
My dad got injured during work. His injuries make him legally disabled (confirmed by a doctor), Is he considered a "dislocated worker". I'm trying to figure this out because I'm filing the FAFSA form.

I think a dislocated worker is one who is now unemployed…not disabled. I couuld be wrong tho

dislocated worker Definition: An individual who meets one of the following criteria: (1) has been laid off or terminated, or received notice of termination or lay off and is unlikely to return to previous industry of occupation, (2) has been terminated or laid off, or has received a notice of termination or lay off, as a result of permanent closure of, or substantial layoff at a plant or facility, (3) was self-employed and now unemployed because of a natural disaster, (4) was self-employed (including farmer, rancher, or fisherman), but is unemployed as a result of general economic conditions in the community in which he or she resides or because of a natural disaster, or (5) is a displaced homemaker. See also displaced worker.

Remember that the dislocated worker distinction only matters if you “need” it - to qualify for simplified or auto 0 formulas. Being able to file a 1040A/EZ or having someone in the household who received federal means tested benefits in the past 24 months can also qualify you if the income is in the right ballpark.

Thanks kelsmom. My dad does get disability compensations from the government. However, I can’t find the question on the FAFSA asking about that…

TLO, does he get Social Security disability payments? If so, the untaxed portion is not reported on FAFSA. Any taxable amounts are already included in his AGI.
