Is a doube major in English and Professional Writing too much?

-I have taken a handful of APs to help get out of some classes
-I have also taken CP (They are college courses, but I don't receive credit for them. They are useful because if I take the class, I already know what to do.)
-My plan was to major with a BA in English, but I found out it was free-fall major/one of those majors everyone takes because 'it's an easy major'. My new plan is to try and double major in English and Professional Writing so, if English falls through, I can have that Professional Writing side to catch me.
-My minor would be General Psychology

I just want to know if this double major idea is stupid or if it's smart. If it's stupid, which major should I choose? If it is smart, would I be able to handle it?

Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn’t there be considerable crossover with your classes where you can double dip? Also, why do you need both majors?

And what would you do with a major in English if you could just pick? Just because some take a certain major because they think it’ll be easy, doesn’t mean that you would need to add a second major in some attempt to prove yourself.

Doing a writing internship might help you gain some sort of real world experience.

Why not just focus on Professional Writing if that’s what you wanted to do with an English major to begin with?

I don’t think you’d be denied for having experience.

It’s too much… to get a good job!
