Is a foreign language required for transfer from CC to CSU?

This question is not for me, but for my brother.

He didn't take a foreign language at all in high school. Now he is a student at a california community college, hoping to transfer after next year. I've tried to help him look this up on the site of the CSU he wants to transfer into, but they don't seem to mention it.

Is there a foreign language requirement at all to transfer from a California community college into a CSU? It seemed like there was for the UC's, but I'm not sure about the CSU's..

Thank you.

Also, a separate question for the UC's: From what I understand, the UC's consider 2 years of a foreign language in high school to be enough to fulfill the transfer requirement. What is the equivalent to that in terms of community college semesters?

As far as I know, (and I could be wrong) you do not need foreign language in order to transfer to a CSU. I recently got accepted to CPPomona and I had no foreign language under my belt. (I did take french in high school, which i got a d in) but Cal poly didn’t ask for any high school tramscripts.

This is tricky. No CSU requires transfers to have a foreign language to get admitted, but some CSUs have a foreign language requirement in order to graduate. So don’t think you’re off the hook just because you got in. Sac State is one. The best document I found is from College of the Canyons which summarizes the list of schools, towards the end:

It would be better to verify the info through the official Transfer counselor website:
