Is a fourth year of math necessary for these schools

You need to take math, not just for college admissions but for its own sake. Math is important for almost every well-paid career. Even if you think you won’t use math, math teaches you logical thinking that is important no matter what you want to do. Also, you’re probably going to have to take math in college because of distribution requirements. If you take a year’s break off of doing math, you’ll be out of practice when you get to college.

Michigan & Vanderbilt are reaches for you, even as a Vanderbilt legacy I doubt that you will be accepted to Vandy, unless your family name is on a building.

Suggest that you look at schools where you know you can get in with the stats you have now. Colleges’ first look at you will be those 6 semesters of high school. The first semester of your senior year is not going to raise that GPA very dramatically. Best of luck to you!

Go talk to the teacher about AP Statistics and let them tell you if you have the background necessary for the class. I hated math, but loved AP Statistics, which I took instead during my last year of high school. Turns out statistics is something that I have used over and over in my undergraduate research, graduate work, and career. Never touched calc and never needed it. There is no ‘one size fits all’ education.
