Is a Geography degree useless?

What kind of careers could a Geography (not Geology) major pursue?

Real estate appraising, city planning, demographer, emergency management to name a few.

I thought about this a little. A girl I was crushing on hard was a Geography major. Just make sure you have a plan because when I went to talk to her about this I had the most awkward conversation with her in my life. She had no idea what she wanted to do with the degree, she just wanted to get into UCLA. :/

There’s some information here

[Geographer, how much do you make, and what do you do? : geography](Reddit - Dive into anything)

The degree is not useless. GIS specialist, climatologist, and environmental scientist are other options OTOH. Certain specializations lead to different careers.

I just graduated high school this spring, am taking a gap year, and for the summer/fall I’m working for the local U’s geography department doing a lot of natural resource stuff, vegetation surveying, lake mapping, etc etc. The department of natural resources and a nearby native american tribe are funding most of it.

I couldn’t get a job in fast food or supermarkets or retail or any typical teenage workplace, but landed one with geography. It’s only one person, but in my experience the field is great lol.

Or you could just go to NGA.gov there are a lot of GIS jobs.
