is a graphing calculator useful on the act?

i have a ti-89 which isn't allowed.....grrrrrr. should i just use a scientific calc or borrow a friend's ti-86? i don't really think u need to graph anything and according to the act ppl, "none of the problems require the use of a calculator" but sometimes it's just easier to graph.

No, not really.

No....then again, isn't real helpful on the SAT (except for quick things).

YES!! Borrow your friend's TI-86! I used the graphing capabilities of my calculator many times during the ACT. Having a graphing calculator isn't imperative, but it should help you significantly. BTW, it would be NUTS for anyone who wasn't an absolute mathematical genius to take the ACT without the aid of a calculator.

thanks...i think i'll just buy another one since u can't use ti-89 on the IB test either. too bad they discontinued ti-86. i guess i'm stuck with like a 83 or 84?
