I’m an international student currently studying my CIE A levels in India. I’ve already taken 6 A levels plus 1 AP, so I plan to drop one A level by the time I start A2. I’m applying to both UK and the US, but I need to know whether A2 English is required for admission for admission to the US universities. I’ve already finished IGCSE English as a First Language, and will be completing AS Level English Language this May. I have no interest in the subject at A2, it’s quite boring, and frankly speaking, the Language Topics paper scares me. A lot.
US universities have no requirements for A level subjects. You don’t need to take English in A2.
SameerHussain is correct. Most US unis expect US students to take English throughout secondary school, which would roughly correspond to AS level. Many US unis require international students for whom English is not a first language and/or whose primary language in school is not English to take the TOEFL. It appears you already meet both standards
